Mom and I are giving each other mani-pedis tonight. I am wondeing where the hell my ugly feet came from because hers are so normal. Also frustrated, Mason wants to know why there is so much action going on in my lap without him. Now it’s my turn! (Poor mom.)

My Nin!

Look at my Nin!  Stunning!! She’s all grown up.

Tonight is her premiere episode on Grey’s Anatomy. Yep, you heard me.  I’M SO EXCITED.  And so very proud of her.

For weeks I have told her to NOT tell me what the H her character is up to.  I still love the show, and all of my doctors are coupled up so well….ugh.  If she goes after Dempsy I’ll have to take her down myself.

Anyway, clear your plans and/or set your tivo, and watch!  She’ll be on for a few episodes.

Check out my maternity dress!

(Pure coincidence that I put this on today after my post last week.)

I found it when my mom and I were cleaning out her storage unit a few months ago. She wore it when she was pregnant with me. This morning when I threw it on for breakfast she said, “Awww, you used to be right there in my tummy.” Now my tummy is right there!

I love wearing her things from when she was my age. It just feels good, ya know? So mommies out there, keep your favorite dresses, shoes, scarves, accessories, your daughters will love them. (I know I don’t have to tell you that.)

UPDATE:  I was just out at CVS and a woman stopped me to say, “Wow, that’s beautiful, you don’t see them made like that any more.”  She’s right.  The flowers are hand-stitched and the soft denim is all cotton, not a blend.  Although it’s over 20 years old, the dress looks new.  She followed up with, “You don’t throw things like that away, you’re a lucky girl.”  Indeed I am to have such a stylish and thoughtful mama.

When people ask me why I’m not sure if I want to have kids, I always respond with, “I couldn’t be as good of a mother as my mom.”

When I go home to visit Mom, she always has a vase of fresh lilies sitting on my bedside table to welcome me back to my room.

Even though I know they will be there, without fail, I still get excited to see them when I arrive.  They make the room smell delightful (yes, delightful) and familiar, and bring a smile to my face as I roll out of bed.

It’s these little thoughtful things that Mom’s do that really make you feel loved.  Couple that with a hug and the weight of the world lifts off of your shoulders, if only for a minute…what a great minute.

Sometimes, when I need a little pick me up, I’ll buy some lilies for my bedroom because I know that’s what Mom would do for me.  And in a way, it’s like she’s there offering her support although she’s so far away.

Love you and miss you Mom.
